Kaleidoscope

noun, (/kəˈlaɪ.də.skəʊp/)

From the Greek:

  • καλός (kalos), “beautiful”
  • εἶδος (eidos), ” form”
  • σκοπέω (skopeo), “to look at”

Literally: “observer of beautiful forms” – (David Brewster, 1817)

Figuratively: “constantly changing pattern” – (Lord Byron, 1819)

Travelling in Greece is like looking into a kaleidoscope. It’s all about light, reflections, beauty, and symmetry.

Feel the radiant light on your face, escape time, explore and “observe the beauty” of this country. You’ll discover ever-changing scenery: unique islands, magnificent mountains, picturesque villages, bustling cities, ancient sites, fascinating museums, and so much more!

ABOUT ME

Hello!

I’m Sofia, I live in Athens and I love history and travelling!

Archaeologist & Museologist by trade

For as long as I can remember, I have always been absolutely fascinated by ancient civilizations, museums, culture, history and art. Growing up I became an archaeologist and loved working in museums, but I had an ever-growing wanderlust that remained unsatisfied. So, I decided to become a tour guide and travel to different places in my beautiful country, sharing my passion with other people.

Currently, I work full-time on museum projects, I lead tours all over Greece, and I’m doing a PhD in Greek Culture, Tourism & Pilgrimage.

Tour guide & Travel Blogger at heart

I’ve started this blog because I wanted to share my love for travelling in Greece with you. For many travellers, this country is a “summer-only” destination, where you can visit a couple of islands and maybe Athens for a day or two. However, Greece is so much more!
